Researcher in Text Analytics

Based in Montreal, Provalis Research isspecialized in the design and development of innovative text analysis research tools, combining qualitative and quantitative content analysis, as well as text-mining techniques. Our products are used by more than 4 000 institutions around the world, including universities, governments, NGOs and businesses(such as Ford, G.E., Bank of America, HP, Intel, FedEx, Accenture, Sony Picture, etc.) for a wide range of applications such as media analysis, survey analysis, political science, business intelligence, market research, aviation safety and international crime analysis.

Job description:

The researcherwill work closely with our programming team and be responsible for designing and implementing research projects in the area of text analysis in order to improve various aspects of the company’s text analytics software, including topic modeling, entity extraction, NLP pre-processing, predictive modeling, etc. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: designing and implementing research for testing new algorithms and techniques, presenting research results, writing reports, providing consulting and training to clients, presenting research results and software solutions during conferences and tradeshows or as part of pre-sales activities.

Qualifications:

Hold a relevant degree in computer science,information science, computational linguistics, statistics, business intelligence, or a related degree.

  • Have at least 3+ years of experience in research in a text analysis or related areas.
  • Strong knowledge and comprehension of technology and data management techniques.
  • Good programming skills
  • Strong quantitative analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative approach & attitude.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and think creatively
